MORE Trading Spaces (page 1 of 2)

We are thrilled to show you some more photos from participants of our summer class, Trading Spaces.  Andrew and Nancy were kind enough to share the after photos of their space.  We hope you will be able to glean an idea or two for your own classroom space!

After taking our summer class on Classroom Design - our friends Andrew, a 4th grade teacher in Tacoma, WA, and Nancy, a 1st grade teacher on Mercer, Island, WA shared their pictures of their beautiful spaces.

Andrew's Room

Andrew created a beautiful corner with lighting, table, rugs and plant. He covered messy, open bookshelves with fabric to get rid of visual noise. Notice the black border used throughout the room, even around the windows.

Andrew anchored desks grouped together to form tables to the once open bookshelves. This opened up the room providing more space and giving the desks a more grounded look - no more "floating" desks here! In the far back corner, Andrew dropped the legs off of the table, placed it on a rug with a plant in the middle and a string of lights overhead. The space becons children to cosy up and work. Above the window, Andrew has hung a variety of black, empty frames from the dollar store. Chilren's artwork will be displayed in the frames by taping the art to the glass. This eliminates the need to take the grames down each time he changes the art work.

A rug in the corner, bean-bags, pillows and hanging lights creates a wonderful place for kids to read.
