Notebook Covers
In order to make student’s Writing and Reading Response notebooks even more special and personal, we use the following method to have each student cover their own Composition Notebook. (little ones get some extra help from an adult) It is our favorite way to help kids keep track of their notebooks, and to love them! Heck – WE love them and find ourselves creating a newly covered notebook for classes we take, conferences we attend and even give them as gifts!
Supplies:
- Composition Notebook
- 2- 12x12 pieces of scrap booking paper per book. We purchase ours in “Stacks” Which are bound together with over 100 pieces of scrapbook paper of all different colors and designs. Much more affordable and provides wonderful choices for all age and gender of students.
- Glue Stick
Step One
Cover the front of the book with glue, right up to the taped binding.
Step Two
Place paper on the cover, right up to but not over, the taped binding. Rub to be certain paper adheres to book.
Step Three
Open book, fold over and glue the excess paper on the top and bottom of the book.
Step Four

Put glue on the excess paper sticking out beyond the cover of the book. Fold each side to form a point like wrapping a package.
Step Five
Cover the extended point with glue
Step Six
Fold over and rub to adhere to inside of front cover.
Repeat the same steps for the back cover.

Beautiful! And one of our favorite things!
