Mother's Day Paperclips

Here is a great Mother's Day project that is simple, inexpensive and so very cute! Turn ordinary paperclips into personalized works of art! What more could one ask for?!

You can purchase Fimo dough at any arts and crafts store. Be sure to choose bright, fun colors! Go ahead and break off a piece of dough and split it in two. Press down, making small circles.

You will use two circles for every one paper clip (the front and the back).

Press the paper clip firmly into the dough.

Your paper clip should be secure between the two circles of dough.

Choosing a contrasting color, create a design to place on top of the circle you have created. We have found that using a tooth pick works well!

Encourage children to think of various objects to create, such as: hearts, flowers, soccer or baseballs, etc. Make it personal!

Bake dough according to the directions.

Don’t be afraid to encourage creativity!

So cute!

The finished product! Top if off with a heartfelt note, slip the paperclips into slits at the bottom and you’re done! A simple, cute Mother’s Day that is sure to please! (Remember to make extras...they are super cute in the classroom too!

Taking the time to do Daily 5 is worth it!

Using Daily 5 after reading the book affirmed my belief system.  It gave me a scaffold and structure to hang my learning and philosophy on.  It gives me a system which allows me to teach my children independence so I can be free to work with small groups and individuals.  Do what the book says and once you get the feel for it, you can make it your own!
