Simple Mother's Day Project

Materials

  • Round Disk Magnets
  • Round, clear Mosaic Marbles
  • Mod Podge (sealer, glue)
  • Small Brush
  • Paper with circles pre-drawn
  • Markers
  • Circle hole punch (like used in scrap booking)
  • Picture of student (optional)

1. Use the pre-drawn circles (or hole punch) and create a colorful design or write a word that describes Mom (nice way of reinforcing adjectives here!)

2. Punch out the circle using the circle hole punch (or cut around it carefully)

3. Brush Mod Podge over the design (careful as ink may smear) - Adult supervision and/or aid here depending on the age of your students

4. Press the decorated circle (or picture of the student) onto the marble so that the design is facing the marble. (This student personalized his magnet by creating a target, representing his mom’s favorite store!)

5. Glue the magnet to the back of the design

Write a lovely message or draw a picture for Mom on her special day. The note/picture can be hung on the refrigerator using the unique, made from the heart magnet! Enjoy!

*Note: We would use permanent markers if at all possible. We found that washable markers smeared when Pod Modge was applied ~ Unless the kiddos want a water color effect in their designs!
