Ahh Haa Moments
Little gems that make us sit up and take notice

Sometimes things happen in our classroom that simply must be shared with others. That is often true with good reads, rich discussions, authentic assessment and instruction…as well the little unexpected things that come up when working with children! We wanted to create this page especially for you - to share some of the great learning that has taken place (even when it wasn’t pretty) that has made us sit up a take notice! Ahh Haa...

Riley Romanowski Bookmarks

While in Detroit attending the Michigan State Reading Conference, we met a delightful, smart group of teachers from the Clare-Gladwin Reading Council of Harrison, Michigan.

They graciously shared with us bookmarks created by Riley Romanowski to guide them in their questioning, while reading and conferring during book studies of The Daily 5.

Many thanks to: Amy Ronanowski, Heather Jensen, Jennifer Pettersch, Andrea Andera, Tracey Merillat, Barb Elliott and Tracy Lubs for sharing your innovative Ahh Haa Moment with us all! (Girls, we wanted to include a photo here, but it was all blurry! So sorry!)

Simply Beautiful Notes Form

Check out what this smart group of teachers from Michigan created to help process their thinking while viewing the Simply Beautiful DVD! WOW...Simply, WOW! Thanks for sharing your thinking with us!

I LOVE the Daily 5!  It is a wonderfully practical and effective way to engage my students in meaningful literacy activities while giving me a chance to work with small groups and individuals.  It  has transformed the way  I teach reading!
