Avoiding the "Summer Slide"
As summer approaches, we look with apprehension at some of our children; those who are reluctant or struggling readers, those who we have given our heart and soul to, those who have worked so hard and shown gains but we know will likely regress without our daily support and cheerleading. These are the children we worry about the most.
Last summer, Gail’s school decided to be proactive. Using Richard Allington’s (Pictured above with us) work as a guide, they developed a summer reading program geared toward those children who need it the most. Check out the link to read Richard Allington’s article as your staff prepares for the summer away. Ahh Haa!
